Appointed ‘Court Observer’ by the Delhi High Court to supervise the rehabilitation of a gypsy settlement of over 50 families

A decades old slum dwelling in Delhi was to be demolished by the authorities. The primary occupants of these shanties were street performers and gypsies from the State of Rajasthan who had settled here with their families. A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court taking issue with the resettlement efforts being undertaken by the authorities. In this content, I was appointed Court Observer in 2017, to inspect the 20 acre site and to record grievances of displaced families on behalf of the Court.
