Dumping of construction debris in the Pushpa-bhadra river in the lower Himalayan ranges
While on a trekking trip in the summer of 2019 to a remote village called Jibhi in the State of Himachal Pradesh, we discovered that construction debris was being indiscriminately dumped inside a pristine Himalayan river.
Upon my return from the trip, I moved a petition before the National Green Tribunal at New Delhi, which issued stern directions to the Himachal district administration to investigate the dumping and to take prompt remedial action. Resultantly, the dumping was stopped [1]and those responsible were prosecuted.
